AFCEA gets scholarship aid

The Government Markets Group, a unit of Global Crossing Ltd. of Hamilton, Bermuda, donated $25,000 last month to the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association to go toward scholarships and funding AFCEA memberships for active-duty personnel.

The company made the donation during a ceremony at AFCEA TechNet International 2001 in Washington. Cyndie Henrichs, vice president of marketing and sales operations, cited the company's support for 'advancing communications to help drive new electronic-government and global networking initiatives.'

The donation will cover 10 students' scholarships, said Rear Adm. Paul E. Tobin, executive director of the AFCEA Educational Foundation.
