The Defense Information Systems Agency's Western Hemisphere field organization has established laboratories for its users to sample Unix applications before putting them into production.
WestHem manages the Defense Enterprise Computing Centers. The labs test commercial products, evaluate standard Unix operating environments and determine interoperability beyond normal qualification testing, a DISA spokeswoman said.
Labs are at the Systems Support Office in Montgomery, Ala.; the Air Force Standard Systems Group, also in Montgomery; the Material Systems Group in Dayton, Ohio; and DISA's Center for Continuity of Operations and Testing in Slidell, La.
