FBI nabs possible author of Leaves worm in the U.K.

The FBI announced last month that a 24-year-old man was arrested in the United Kingdom in connection with propagating the so-called W32-Leave.worm, or Leaves worm.

The FBI's National Infrastructure Protection Center in June issued a warning about the worm, which was discovered by the SANS Institute of Bethesda, Md.

The worm affected Internet-connected PCs running Microsoft Windows and gave an intruder access to infected computers.

The worm, which reportedly synchronized PCs' internal clocks with U.S. Naval Observatory time, affected mostly systems with outdated antivirus software. Current software can detect the worm, according to an FBI statement.
