SEC launches Spanish language section on Web site

The Securities and Exchange Commission has posted links to text in Spanish on its Web site, at www.sec.gov, to reach out to the country's fastest-growing demographic group.

The section describes the commission's role, includes brochures on investing and fraud, and provides a link to investor education resources in Spanish that are run by government agencies and organizations.

Users who send e-mail in Spanish to ayuda@sec.gov will receive replies in Spanish.

'Our agency wants to help preclude language barriers from separating investors from reliable information about saving and investing wisely,' SEC chairman Harvey L. Pitt said.

Users can also call 800-732-0330 for information in Spanish.
