Weather Service inks IT services contract

The National Weather Service awarded a $24.5 million contract for its Solutions for the NWS IT Services task to QSS Group Inc.

Under the contract, the Lanham, Md., company will provide planning and analysis support to the network at NWS' new CIO office in Silver Spring, Md.

QSS also will support administrative and finance information systems for the weather service's chief financial officer and perform maintenance, logistics, and database support services for the Operations Systems Office.

The contract includes one base year and four one-year options.
