Pentagon invites vendors to brainstorm

Pete Aldridge

Defense Department's Pete Aldridge last month issued a broad announcement seeking industry ideas for fighting terrorism. Military officials are specifically seeking concepts and technologies to combat terrorism, defeat difficult targets, conduct protracted operations in remote areas and develop countermeasures to weapons of mass destruction.

Aldridge, who made the announcement, is the undersecretary for acquisition, technology and logistics, and the Technical Support Working Group that conducts rapid prototyping for the National Interagency Research and Development Program. They seek concepts that can be fielded within 12 to 18 months. Initial responses are due by Dec. 23.
