Burek is Maryland CIO

Linda Burek, who was the deputy assistant attorney general for IRM at the Justice Department, has left to take over as CIO of Maryland. She replaces Alisoun K. Moore.

Jim Gallagher will be the acting deputy assistant attorney general for IRM until the position is filled, a Justice department spokeswoman said.

During her four-year tenure at the department, Burek was the head of the systems technology staff and deputy CIO.

She participated in designing and implementing the Justice Consolidated Office Network, an automation platform that serves more than 20,000 PCs.

Burek also worked on developing and implementing the Joint Automated Booking System, an online criminal database law enforcement agencies use to share data, eliminate redundant booking and get quicker fingerprint check response from the FBI.
