Perry named Veterans Affairs CTO

Frank A. Perry, technical director for the Navy's Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, will join the Veterans Affairs Department as chief technology officer, a new position.

Perry will help the VA deputy CIO and CIO migrate systems from the agency's existing IT environment to the new VA enterprise architecture, a VA spokesman said. At SPAWAR, Perry worked on the integration of programs such as the Tactical Data Links, Global Command and Control System and the Global Combat Support System.

Before joining the Defense Information Systems Agency in May 1995, he was vice president and engineering director at Global Associates Ltd.

Perry served in the Navy as a surface warfare officer and engineering duty officer from 1972 to 1986. At VA, Perry will once again work with John A. Gauss, assistant secretary for information and technology, and CIO, who retired as SPAWAR commander earlier this year.
