Passino takes over as Michigan's CIO

Jacque Passino today assumed control of Michigan's recently created IT Department, where he will oversee the state's technology projects.

Passino succeeds George Boersma, who served as the department's director on an interim basis since Gov. John Engler appointed him last month.

Passino has worked for Accenture LLP of Chicago since 1972, mainly on IT integration projects for the banking industry.

Engler created the IT Department in August by drawing employees from other state agencies, officials said.

Passino holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Duke University and a master's in business administration from the University of Michigan.
