Army thanks Dell for 9/11 recovery support

The Army recently honored Dell Computer Corp. for its support in rescue and recovery efforts after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11.

Maj. Gen. George A. Higgins, deputy commanding general of the Army II Corps and Fort Hood, Texas, went to the company's Round Rock, Texas, campus to present a plaque to chairman and CEO Michael Dell.

Higgins, citing the importance of private-sector help in the recovery efforts, said Dell had sent technicians to the disaster sites in New York and at the Pentagon, had pushed through emergency orders and provided round-the-clock support to relief efforts.
