Feds toast an IT fixture
Ray Kane, one of the most familiar faces in federal IT, turned 75 last month, and friends staged an impromptu birthday party at a hotel near Washington. Kane has 38 years in the business, including stints at American Management Systems Inc. of Fairfax, Va., and Unisys Corp. Since retiring in 1991 he has consulted with many companies that market to the government.

Bottom: Among those enjoying the tribute to Kane were, left to right, Linda Berdine, president of the Bethesda, Md., chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association; and Mary Whitley, Al Olson and Bob Suda of the General Services Administration.
