NHTSA opens multicultural traffic safety site

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has posted traffic safety materials and information designed to serve minority populations on a new Web site, www.nhtsa.dot.gov/multicultural.

NHSTA officials said they created the site because minority communities suffer from a high rate of traffic safety problems. Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for some minorities.

The site has separate research reports, statistics, brochures and posters for Hispanics, African Americans, Asian Americans and American Indians. Some of the materials are available in Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese.
