VA picks four for Peaches system support

The Veterans Affairs Department has tapped four companies to provide departmentwide hardware and software support.

The contracts, jointly worth up to $1.3 billion, are follow-on deals to the Procurement of Computer Hardware and Software.

Compaq Computer Corp., GTSI Corp. of Chantilly, Va., MicronPC LLP of Nampa, Idaho, and PlanetGov Inc. of Fairfax, Va., will vie for task orders under PCHS-2, commonly referred to as Peaches. The four vendors will provide hardware, software, security and wireless services. The contracts have one-year base periods and four option years.

Compaq and Micron shared the first PCHS deal, with each winning a $741 million contract in 1997.
