WamNet opens office to serve federal clients

WamNet Inc. of Eagan, Minn., has established a separate division to focus on the government market for its digital content delivery and hosting services.

WamNet Government Services Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary headquartered in Herndon, Va.

The parent company is a subcontractor on the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet project. It is designing network and base infrastructures and will run four network operations centers.

'We spent the last year focusing on that,' said Mike Barbee, government services president. 'Now that that is somewhat stable, we felt it is time to leverage that experience in other parts of the government.'
