Survey finds DOD employees more satisfied

Defense employees have a stronger sense of purpose than civilian-agency workers since Sept. 11, according to a study released by the Brookings Institution last month.

The Washington think tank surveyed 1,000 federal employees between February and March 2001 and again between March and May 2002 to gauge how their views changed.

Sixty-three percent of Defense workers questioned said they feel their job is more worthwhile since the terrorist attacks. Only 35 percent of civilian workers said the same thing.
