Sunrise Recreation and Park District in Sacramento County, Calif., offers the area's 156,000 residents more than 500 recreation classes and maintains 39 parks and three community swimming pools. This summer the district began letting users register online for classes and events.
The park district wanted a system that was inexpensive and user-friendly, said Terry Jewell, district administrator for Sunrise Recreation and Park District. In this first foray into online registration, 'we wanted to make it so that anyone with access to the Internet could sign up for most of our programs 24-7,' Jewell said.
District users access the software over a secure server hosted by the company by clicking on a button at the lower left corner of the park district's Web site, www.sunriserecreationpark.org
RecNet also has reporting and enrollment functions that let district officials create rosters and daily reports and manage financial data.
In the first week, more than 130 people signed up for the district's summer activity guide through RecNet, Jewell said.
The district includes the communities of Citrus Heights, Foothill Farms and Antelope. 'We benefit from the warm summers, with lots of aquatic programs,' Jewell said. The district also offers softball leagues, youth groups, senior programs and child care.
