GSA hires vendor to revamp its portal

The General Services Administration yesterday announced a contract worth up to $930,000 with Bates Worldwide Inc., a New York advertising company, to overhaul www.gsa.gov.

GSA wants Bates to improve the site's organization, focus the content better and make user-requested information more prominent. Bates will work with GSA's Marketing Council to carry out user surveys and market research.

The upgrade will make the site more navigable and more focused on the agency's business lines, said M.J. Jameson, GSA associate administrator for the Citizen Services and Communications Office. GSA expects to launch the upgraded portal by spring.
