MicronPC will become MPC Computers

Computer vendor MicronPC LLC will change its name to MPC Computers during the first half of 2003.

Officials of the Nampa, Idaho, company, which makes PCs, notebook computers and servers for government and business markets, made the announcement today. The company will make the transition over a six-month period to lessen confusion with its original parent company.

Formerly a unit of memory manufacturer Micron Technology Inc., the company was acquired in 2001 by the privately held Gores Technology Group of Los Angeles.

MicronPC is one of four holders of the Procurement of Computer Hardware and Software 2 contract with the Veterans Affairs Department and sells IT products and services to several other agencies.
