DOD Education Activity extends support contract

Defense Department Education Activity offices will continue to receive technical support for their LANs and desktop PCs through a $3.2 million contract with Affiliated Computer Services Inc.

The Dallas company will provide desktop PC and file server administration, and Web and help desk support to DODEA offices in Arlington, Va., as well as schools at Fort Buchanan in Puerto Rico, Guantanamo Bay Naval Air Station in Cuba and Warner Robins Air Force Base in Georgia. The one-year contract also has a one-year option.

At Arlington, ACS will offer network management and administration, client-server support, application support, problem resolution, data communications support, systems installation and maintenance, and Web technology support. In Peach Tree, Ga., the contract calls for supporting network and desktop capabilities at DOD Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools headquarters.

'Our help desk folks are a model of customer service,' said Marilee Fitzgerald, DODEA associate director of management, in a statement. She said the contractors, who after this contract will have worked with the agency for five years, are 'valued members of the DODEA management team.'
