Special Ops group awards IT support pact

The Army's Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command has awarded an IT services contract for WAN and LAN support to Ciber Inc. of Greenwood Village, Colo.

The systems support contract will free up the command's workers to concentrate on their mission, command officials said. Ciber will provide network security, help desk operations and server administration.

With its headquarters at Fort Bragg, N.C., the command, a subordinate organization of the Army's Special Operations Command, includes a large contingent of Reserve units in 25 states and is viewed as the link between military and civilian authorities.

Psychological Operations staff members are trained to use persuasion to convince enemy forces to surrender during times of war.
