The Council for Excellence in Government has formed the Chief Information Officers-Senior Advisers to Government Executives, a group of former federal, state and local CIOs to offer advice to incoming and new government CIOs.
The network, called CIO-SAGE, has more than 25 former CIOs who will offer knowledge and expertise on technology management issues.
"Former government CIOs - the folks who have 'been there and done that' - are an incredible and too often underused resource," said Patricia McGinnis, president and chief executive officer of the Council for Excellence in Government.
The group will:Assist, advise, and mentor incoming public-sector CIOs on successful technology and business alignment and outcomes; Create a haven for thought leadership, information exchanges and innovative thinking among existing and former CIOs; Share and build lessons learned and discuss activities essential to integrating strategies for e-government; Help incoming CIOs recognize customer and business centric needs and demands behind digital government and promote these to other government decision-makers.
