Congress late last month authorized the Navy to rescind a 60,000-seat limit for the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet and to begin moving 100,000 additional seats to the NMCI network.
The cap was imposed pending an operational test of the network by the Navy's NMCI staff and independent testing agencies. The Navy and lead contractor EDS Corp. recently finished the assessment.
'These authorizations mark major milestones in the progress of the NMCI program,' said Rear Adm. Charles L. Munns, director of the program.
