Sun teams with Aether Systems on Web services

Aether Systems Inc. and Sun Microsystems Inc. earlier this month said they will jointly market their mobile Web services software to the Homeland Security Department.

The offering combines the Sun Open Net Environment, or Sun One, an architecture for Web applications, and Aether Fusion, a development platform for securing and synchronizing wireless enterprise applications.

Based on Java2 Enterprise Edition, Aether Fusion will run atop the Sun One Application Server, said Shahram Moradpour, a Sun senior executive.
