The newest version of IBM's WebSphere Application Server will be the first to run under the open-source Linux operating system on IBM's Power4 processors.
The application integration server, a platform for electronic-government transactions, will work on the company's high-end pSeries and midrange iSeries eServers.
WebSphere previously ran either under Linux or on Power4 servers, but not both, IBM Corp. spokeswoman Laurie Friedman said.
