New revolving door: from DOD to DHS'and back

President Bush says he intends to nominate Gordon England to return to his former job as Navy secretary. Currently, England is deputy secretary of Homeland Security.

In May, Bush nominated Colin McMillan to replace England as the next Navy secretary. But McMillan, 67, who suffered from cancer, committed suicide on July 24 at his New Mexico ranch.

The president announced his plans late last week.

England retired from the Navy in January. If confirmed by the Senate, England would once again take over the top post, replacing acting secretary Hansford Johnson.

During his two-year stint at the Navy's helm, England is credited with improving management of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet and with emphasizing procurement of commercial technologies.
