Stenbit stumps for Defense's vision of IT

John Stenbit

MONTGOMERY, Ala.'To make sure there's no confusion among lawmakers about the Defense Department's fiscal 2005 IT budget, CIO John Stenbit said the department will distinguish requests for tactical systems from those for administrative systems.

The department will have crisper definitions in reports supporting the 2005 requests, he said, so members of Congress won't confuse them with what he called 'regular CIO IT,' such as requests for finance and personnel systems.

Stenbit talked about DOD's budget plans following a speech last week at the Air Force IT Conference.
