High-volume Microsoft users get early access to Office 2003

Microsoft Corp. has made its Office System 2003 suite available for download by enterprise and volume license customers, more than a month ahead of when retail sales begin.

The new suite will be available for retail sale Oct. 21. Microsoft yesterday released English, French, Italian and Spanish versions of several of the suite's products for download by the select set of licensees, which would include many large government users.

The products available are Microsoft Office Professional Enterprise and Standard editions 2003, as well as Microsoft Office Word 2003, Excel 2003, Outlook 2003, PowerPoint 2003, Access 2003, FrontPage 2003, InfoPath 2003, OneNote 2003 and Publisher 2003.

Many license customers can log on to licensing.microsoft.com to download software, but some will need to go through their resellers to download suite products, the company said.
