VA medical centers get help desk assist

Three Veterans Affairs Department medical centers soon will use new help desk and asset management software.
VA today announced the $400,000 help desk deal awarded through GTSI Corp.'s Procurement of Computer Hardware and Software 2 contract.
Network Associates Technology Inc. of Santa Clara, Calif., makes the Magic Service Desk and Asset Management software that the VA centers will use. SteelCloud Inc. of Dulles, Va., will supply technical support and consulting services.
The upgrade will let users at the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia VA medical centers send simultaneous requests and database queries to automated help desks.
'Implementation is slated to start immediately, and we expect to have all three sites operational by year-end," said Terry Elton, SteelCloud's vice president of business development.
