Deidre Lee will temporarily leave her post as procurement director for the Defense Department to help with Iraq reconstruction procurements.
Lee said today that she will start her new assignment next Tuesday, Oct. 14. Domenico C. Cipicchio, deputy director of policy in the DOD Procurement Office, will fill in for Lee during her absence.
'I consider it a privilege to work on something like this,' Lee said at a performance-based management conference in McLean, Va.
She said that advising the Coalition Provisional Authority on the best acquisition strategies for the Iraq reconstruction effort will be an honor and adventure.
It's unclear how long she will serve in the advisory post. The work will last until at least mid- to late November, when the authority will review its acquisition strategy and decide how to proceed, she said.
