Parkes to leave FEMA, become Energy CIO

Rose O. Parkes, who has been CIO of the Federal Emergency Management Agency for the past year, will leave her post next week to become CIO of the Energy Department.

Parkes last day at FEMA is next Friday, Oct. 17, spokeswoman Debbie Wing said.

She will take over the CIO slot at Energy from acting CIO Gordon Errington.

Errington, Energy's deputy CIO, was tapped to fill in for Karen Evans, who yesterday began her new job as associate administrator for IT and e-government a the Office of Management and Budget.

Parkes has been FEMA's systems chief since September of last year. She had been the deputy CIO before that.
