DFAS earns kudos for its HR portal

The Defense Finance and Accounting Service recently received honors for its ePortal.

DFAS accepted its third-place award last week from Web tools maker Plumtree Software Inc. of San Francisco. The company, of which DFAS is a customer, lauded the agency for developing a suite of human resource tools that lets the agency's 15,000 employees update personnel information online.

'Our effort supported our vision of HR to the desktop, which is focused on building tools DFAS people can use to stay informed and take action in their personal and professional lives,' said Ron Crain, director of human resources at DFAS.

Plumtree annually honors its users for creative Web applications. DFAS was chosen from among other Plumtree users such as American Airlines, Mazda and Staples. Halliburton Corp. of Houston and NAV Canada of Ottawa took the first- and second-place awards respectively.
