Transportation's Matthews named to CIO Council post

Daniel P. Matthews, CIO of the Transportation Department, is the new vice chairman of the CIO Council.

Matthews, who has been Transportation CIO since March, replaces Karen Evans who, with her appointment in early September as the Office of Management and Budget's administrator for e-government and IT, became the council's director.

Before joining Transportation, Matthews was senior vice president of Savantage Financial Service, and before that he spent two decades with Lockheed Martin Corp.
