Army upgrades features of its IT buying site

The Army Small Computer Program recently launched a revamped Web site that integrates features from the program's MarketPlace Direct Online shopping site with information about program contracts.

The IT E-Mart site, at, has an improved search engine that lets Defense Department users find products and services from multiple vendors and compare prices on a single screen, said Marian Keitelman, product leader for the Small Computer Program.

'This is the next generation of government procurement Web sites,' added Olga Lawrence, assistant project manager. 'Our goal is to give IT E-Mart the intuitive look and feel of the best commercial Web sites.'

The site has incorporated single sign-on integration with Army Knowledge Online. 'If you've ever logged in to AKO, you're already registered with IT E-Mart,' Keitelman said.
