Marine Corps set to upgrade buying system

The Marine Corps has awarded a contract to AT&T Government Solutions of Vienna, Va., to track hardware acquisitions.

Under the $676,000 contract'awarded by the Marine Corps Systems Command in Quantico, Va.'AT&T software engineers will make the service's Virtual Program Management System accessible by a Web portal.

Engineers also will upgrade the system so it can link to other Marine Corps systems used to track purchases and provide systems analysis support to the program manager for the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet and Information Technology Infrastructure.

AT&T has two subcontractors, Progressive Data Systems of Dumfries, Va., and Data Scientific Corp. of Vienna, Va.
