Former Navy tactical network chief joins DigitalNet

Ret. Navy Capt. Robert N. Whitkop, former director of architectures and engineering for the Naval Network Warfare Command, will become the new vice president of Defense strategic programs for DigitalNet Inc. of Herndon, Va.

Whitkop recently retired after serving in the Navy for more than 25 years. Besides his work at the Network Warfare Command, he also did a recent stint as deputy director of the ForceNet initiative, developing a strategy to integrate Navy programs under a common architecture.

The Navy veteran also helped create plans for the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet and the Base Information Infrastructure program.

'He is a strategic addition to our team with his incredible leadership and deep understanding of the networking challenges faced by the Defense Department and ForceNet,' said Ken Bajaj, chief executive officer of DigitalNet, when announcing Whitkop's hiring today.

DigitalNet builds and maintains enterprise networks, mostly for government customers.
