Major programs within NIH

Certain Computer Equipment Resources and Technology Acquisition. NIH is updating its biomedical, statistical and administrative computer systems. The Division of Computer Research and Technology provides computer and technical support, and services for research and management programs in NIH and other parts of the Health and Human Services Department. The program will integrate existing NIH-wide applications and provide new technologies as the agency moves to a client-server architecture.

  • Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program's Informatics and Computer Support. The program provides software development, documentation, testing, training, maintenance, security, and disaster recovery and clinical data update systems for NIH's National Cancer Institute to support the informatics and computer systems of the Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program. CTEP plans, assesses and coordinates clinical trials and develops new pharmacological and biological agents for the treatment of cancers.

  • Imageworld II. Twenty-four vendors provide electronic imaging system support services for NIH, HHS and other agencies through NIH's Information Technology Acquisition and Assessment Center. Services include document conversion and storage, electronic document management, automated workflow systems and clinical, biological and research imaging applications.

  • Estimated value over 10-year life of contract: $15 billion.
