RFP coming for law enforcement wireless net

The departments of Homeland Security, Justice and Treasury plan to seek proposals for their joint Integrated Wireless Network this summer.

The IWN Joint Program Office plans to issue a statement of objectives in June or July.

The statement will form the basis for a two-stage procurement: Would-be contractors will propose responses to the government's request and then be winnowed down for a second fly-off phase.

In the second phase, the IWN team will disclose details of its Seattle pilot project and other information for vendors to use in refining their proposals.
