DISA continues finance server consolidation

The Defense Information Systems Agency recently finished round one of the Defense Finance and Accounting System server consolidation project.

During the first phase, DISA's Center for Computing Services consolidated 41 DFAS server applications at 10 sites into three Systems Management Centers.

The project was completed early and under budget, according to a DISA news release.

The center is now consolidating the remaining DFAS server apps and plans to fully implement the infrastructure in the spring of 2005.

The consolidation goals are to improve operational efficiency, reduce processing costs, and reduce labor requirements and the number of computing services locations, while improving disaster recovery and backup services for server operations.
