Virtual Space: Rain Gauge

Hurricane Ivan's CT scan

Ivan rained down death and destruction on the Gulf Coast this month, but it's raining straight up in these Sept. 15 images captured by NASA's Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission satellite. The red peaks represent areas that got two or more measured inches of rainfall per hour; yellow means one or more inches; green is 0.5 inch and blue is 0.25 inch.
