Defense to celebrate IT excellence

Defense to celebrate IT excellence

The Defense Department will host the fourth annual CIO Awards ceremony at the Pentagon Thursday at 2 p.m.

The honors recognize organizations and Defense employees for using IT to improve services and reduce costs. The winners must reflect the spirit and intent of the Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996 and the vision of the department's CIO, DOD officials said.

DOD will name first-, second- and third-place winners and two finalists in both team and individual categories.

The department put out a call for nominations in late spring.
