FDA, IRS sites honored for Web performance

The Web sites of the Food and Drug Administration and the IRS are winners of the first Keynote Performance Awards, announced today in New York.

In the government category, FDA's site won the award for best transaction speed, averaging 1.46 seconds. The IRS was honored for best transaction reliability, with a rating of 99.8 percent.

Keynote Systems Inc. of San Mateo, Calif., which provides Web performance data and analysis, announced the awards. The company operates more than 1,600 measurement computers in more than 50 cities worldwide.

For the government award category, Keynote aggregated data collected between last December and July. Other categories for the online awards were retail, airline, hotel and travel agency.
