Joshua B. Bolten

The Office of Management and Budget has shifted responsibility for approving financial software for government use to the Chief Financial Officers Council from the Joint Financial Management Improvement Program.

OMB's Office of Federal Financial Management will coordinate with agencies on contracts for core financial software, establish interface requirements for the services and incorporate them into governmentwide documents.

These moves'which were outlined in a memo to agency executives from OMB director Joshua B. Bolten'will shut down the JFMIP as a standalone organization.

The transition of JFMIP's duties and staff to the CFO Council and OFFM will be finished by early summer.
