NAVSEA awards IT support contract

The Naval Sea Systems Command has awarded a $69 million contract to Anteon International Corp. of Fairfax, Va., for various IT support functions.

Anteon will provide program management, acquisition and systems engineering services to support the chief engineer for the assistant secretary of the Navy for research, development and acquisition. The company's work will include helping to integrate Navy combat, weapons, command, control, communication, computer, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems.

The five-year task order is part of the Navy's $14.5 billion SeaPort program, which was first announced in 2001. Multiple contractors were chosen under the SeaPort vehicle, designed to automate the procurement process for professional support services.

Specific technical services under Anteon's award include large-scale systems engineering process development, collaborative engineering, policy and standards, and capability assessments, according to a company release.
