Defense lists top 100 contractors for 2004

The Defense Department has released a list of the top 100 companies and their subsidiaries that received the largest dollar volume of prime contract awards in fiscal 2004.

The announcement, put out by the DOD's Directorate for Information Operations and Reports' Statistical Information Analysis Division, is available on the Web.

The report also breaks out data on the 100 prime contractors receiving the largest dollar amount in DOD awards for research, development, test and evaluation work during fiscal 2004. RDT&E can include research (basic and applied) and development (exploratory, advanced, engineering, operational systems, or management and support systems), according to the site.

The department's prime contract awards in fiscal 2004 totaled $230.7 billion, an increase of $21.7 billion over fiscal 2003.

The top 10 Defense contractors for fiscal 2004 were:

  1. Lockheed Martin Corp., $20.7 billion

  2. Boeing Co., $17.1 billion

  3. Northrop Grumman Corp., $11.9 billion

  4. General Dynamics Corp., $9.6 billion

  5. Raytheon Co., $8.5 billion

  6. Halliburton Co., $8 billion

  7. United Technologies Corp., $5.1 billion

  8. Science Applications International Corp., $2.5 billion

  9. Computer Sciences Corp., $ 2.4 billion

  10. Humana Inc., $2.4 billion
