Agencies join forces to create transformational warfare systems

The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and the Naval Air System Command are teaming up to develop and field transformational warfare systems.

The heads of both agencies signed a Memorandum of Agreement May 6 to create the NGA NAVAIR Experimental Aviation Activity.

'The NNEAA represents a significant partnership between the military and intelligence communities and offers tremendous potential for increasing operational effectiveness and agility, both in current operations and in response to emerging threats,' said Vice Adm. Walter Massenburg, NAVAIR commander in a joint news release. 'It provides a cost-effective path by which to rapidly evaluate, integrate and transition transformational technologies and capabilities to our warfighters.'

NGA and NAVAIR will jointly develop and operate advanced systems including intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance manned and unmanned aircraft; ground systems; airborne sensors; and data processing infrastructures.
