Al Hudson, acting CIO of the Homeland Security Department's Immigration and Customs Enforcement, has left the agency, officials have announced.
ICE spokesman Marc Raimondi confirmed that Hudson and his deputy, Tom Tomai, would be leaving. He said the agency has not yet appointed a new, permanent CIO.
Other sources said Hudson, who left ICE Friday, has accepted a job with the Transportation Security Administration.
ICE technology officials have been subjected to severe management pressures
because of the department's structural funding deficit, which flows from the fact that it provides IT services to other agencies within the department. ICE's financial problems at times have led officials to impose hiring freezes to conserve cash.
Hudson and Tomai could not be immediately reached for comment.
