Personal space: Ongoing tour
On Sunday, July 24, the day Lance Armstrong won his seventh Tour de France, John Macias, at right, was on the road in central New Jersey, taking part in a Lance Armstrong Foundation Peloton Project ride to raise awareness for cancer research. Macias, information systems security officer for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's DC National Center for Health Statistics in Hyattsville, Md., has been an active cyclist since he started racing at age 14. He joined the Livestrong project last year when his wife, Lieba, became a cancer survivor. He'll be taking part in more events and says she will ride with him as much as possible.
