Pennsylvania calls on ACS for call center operations

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has awarded Affiliated Computer Services Inc. a $33 million contract to provide call center services, the company announced today.

Under the contract, ACS of Dallas will operate a driver-and-vehicle-services call center for the department, which handles about 3 million calls annually.

The new contract is expected to save the department $5 million over the next five years.

The center will handle calls from customers who have questions concerning driver licensing and motor vehicles, as well as the scheduling of road tests for new drivers.

ACS currently operates call centers in Pennsylvania for the Philadelphia Parking Authority, Philadelphia Fire Department Emergency Management Services and the Pennsylvania State Collection and Disbursement Unit.

The center will be located in the Harrisburg area and employ about 120 people. It will be fully operational by January 2006.
