Database happenings

Sleepycat Software Inc. of Lincoln, Mass., has released Version 4.4 of its Berkeley DB, widely used for embedded systems and other simple database chores. New features include disk reclamation, abandoned lock removal, in-memory replication and a backup utility. Meanwhile, users of BusinessObjects XI can now run the intelligence software against MySQL databases more easily, thanks to a partnership between Business Objects Inc. of San Jose, Calif., and MySQL AB of Sweden. The pair will offer a bundle of the MySQL Network database subscription service with the Business Objects software.
