Online Extra: ASCI Survey

Each quarter, the American Society for Quality, the University of Michigan, CFI Group and ForeSee Results of Ann Arbor, Mich. surveys the users of government agency Web sites. The results become part of the American Customer Satisfaction Index, a national survey of Web site user satisfaction. Agency participation is voluntary.

In results published last September, 13 agency Web sites achieved satisfaction scores of 80 or higher, 80 being the threshold for excellence, according to the ASCI. By way of comparison to the commercial sector, scored an 84.

Here are the top scoring government sites:
